Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her first appearances on Broadway included in musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working with well-known directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is in the production of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. The film is an Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney DTC's platform. Ashford is set to return in 2023 and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The group behind Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the control of the show. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main characters into the first ever impeachment proceedings in America for more than 100 years. The two-season run she had on the CBS show B Positive was her first big role. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Additional Broadway performances includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and is now dividing her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
