On August 9, 2009 Decker released her first self-titled album under the name Jessie James. Jessie James, which featured Wanted as a number one hit within the Top 40 Singles Charts was moderately well-received. Decker is always considered a Country singer, yet the album was released and promoted was designed with pop audiences in mind. Decker was unhappy with two more singles from the album, fought the executives of the record label in search of more control. Decker then released her second single Boys in the Summer which was more traditional. Decker's second album, announced as Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records was shelved after Mercury noticed the weak results of three of the singles on country radio charts.
